2009 Ford Focus Complete Review
2009 Ford Focus
Ford Focus has had a record of ups and downs since its inception in the last decade. The critics have risen, disapproving of the Fords design and styling. One major feature of concern was the fake fender vents that were a no-no for most of the car buyers and car raters. But that is all in the past now.
2009 has seen the birth of a new age Ford Focus that on first sight is in a word: breathtaking. It has a sleek and beautiful design that is more compact and more stylish, guaranteed to impress event the most hard hearted of automobile lovers. The new coupe body style and interior upgrade has marked a turning point for the Ford Focus with the mechanics being good enough to maintain an unfading smile on the small car-buyers.
The Ford Focus 2009 comes in two: a coupe or a sedan, two doors or four doors depending on preference. The S model comes with 15 ‘’ steel wheels, air conditioning, a four speaker audio system and a single CD/ MP3 player and a tilting steering wheel. The SE packs on a heavier package with full power accessories, a satellite radio(Sirius) with the option of an upgraded stereo with an impressive six CD changer, heated side mirrors interior lighting that is customizable and leather wrapped steering wheel.
For the SES expect 16” alloy wheels and upgraded tires foglamps and a rear spoiler topped with firmer suspension for much more comfortable handling. The leading SEL and SES have all SES features together with chrome exterior trim and leather seats that are heated. It does not get any better than that. The coupe is available in SE and SES trim levels though with the package there will be 17’’ wheels and a sports exhaust that has a positive effect on horsepower and total output of the new work of art.
For performance there are no wow features, just the 2-liter inline four-cylinder that is good enough. You can expect an engine that will not disappoint without the bugging engine noises. The transmission is a five speed manual though there is the option of a four-speed automatic. In SES coupes it is somewhat shorter to give a better feel and greater acceleration.
The colored interior is a break from the usual and the front seats are a driver’s companion for long drives with their amazing support without compromising on comfort for being flat. Safety is a first for this beauty with front and side airbags to cater for any unfortunate collisions. So impressive is this that it received a four and five-star rating for front and side collisions respectively( for the Sedan) The coupe received a “good” which is not too bad relatively speaking.
For those who like a touch of modernity everywhere they go, then the 2009 model offers a handsfree voice recognition interface with Microsoft built Sync that adds Bluetooth functionality. Wireless connection is at its best. The dashboard has offered an amazing design that captivates the eyes and makes usability that much easier. Reading of the gauges can be hard to read in changing lighting conditions but this in itself is not a disadvantage.
For colour choice, well not a priority but most colours are available to meet event the most elusive tastes. A sunroof is included to give the eye more appeal and this for some people is a must feature. With all these features one would expect a price that is out of this world but this model proves to be quite a money saver. If you are looking for a simple small Ford car that packs some exciting features then this is definitely it. Most dealers offer a MSRP of between 15000 to 18000 U.S dollars (generally, on the average).
Fuel economy is granted and pocket wise this automobile will be easy on the pocket. For the road test, the car produces average results with consumer guide auto giving an average of about 56 which is not too impressive and neither is it too bad.
From the look of things it seems like the 2009 Ford Focus is promising a lot with no downsides. Like any other product that is rolled out on the market, it has also received heavy criticism with some describing of no new things that Ford has offered and it has not satisfied the expectations that were linked to it. The cabin has been rolled back from earlier models and seriously lacks on the wow feature. The exterior design with its improved finish has been disappointing to others explaining that the company is yet to ‘get it.’ But despite all these it is safe to say that the Ford Focus 2009 is unworthy to be termed as an upgrade and it is worth all the credit that has been attached to it.
