Chevrolet was selected among list of 12 latest vehicles; this list was shortlisted to 10 vehicles and finally Chevrolet won the competition. Top three vehicles in the list were; 2011 Chevrolet Volt, Nissan Leaf and BMW 320d Efficient Dynamic Editions.

Vice President of Chevrolet Marketing, Rick Scheidt said, “The selection of Volt as the World Green Car is a further proof point of the fuel efficient technologies that are now being offered by the Chevrolet brand around the world. This award, and the others that have preceded it, validate the efforts of the development team to build a truly remarkable vehicle with the potential to transform transportation around the globe”.

Eligibility Criteria for World Car Awards

Board of Global Automotive Journalists fixed on the best car from the list of latest vehicle. In order to be eligible for World Car Award, desired companies should assure its sales in 2 continents from 1st January 2010-30th May 2011. Chevrolet has decided to sale Volt in Europe and Asia in the end of this year in order to be eligible for “2012 World Car Awards”.
