Acceleration from 0-60 mph is 8.6 seconds, making it a bit faster than the Volkswagen Jetta TDI. EPA rated fuel economy is really impressive that is 27 mpg city, 46 mpg highway and 33 mpg combined whereas Volkswagen Jetta has 42 mpg highway giving an edge to the Cruze Diesel however, Volkswagen Jetta has a slight edge with its 34 mpg combined fuel economy.


Antilock brakes, full length side curtain airbags, front and rear side impact airbags, front knee airbags, stability control and traction control are standard safety features on 2014 Chevrolet Cruze Diesel.

Pricing and Availability

The new top of the line model Cruze Diesel 2014 is available for sale in the market at a base price of $25,695.


The direct rival of the 2014 Cruze Diesel is Volkswagen Jetta TDI. Both the cars are potentially strong to offer tough time to each other. The Cruze Diesel has a strong highway fuel economy at 46 mpg compared to Jetta’s 42 mpg, but at the same time Jetta has edge over Cruze in combined fuel economy that is 34 mpg and 33 mpg respectively. Compared to Jetta, Cruze Diesel has a higher base price.

Other competitors include Honda Civic, Hyundai Elantra, Toyota Prius and Ford C-Max hybrid.

With the Cruze Diesel 2014, Chevrolet kills the monopoly of the only economic diesel compact sedan that is Volkswagen Jetta TDI.
