Ford Started Production of 1.0L EcoBoost Engine in Romania
Ford is serious to provide the best engine ever to its stylish and performance driven vehicles and recently it has announced that it will initiate the volume production at the brand new engine facility situated in Craiova (Romania).
Ford of Europe’s director of manufacturing and Powertrain operations Dirk Heller said, “This is an important day that brings a new level of advanced manufacturing to this part of Europe. With pivotal products such as the 1.0-liter EcoBoost engine and the new B-MAX, which goes into production later this year, Craiova is very important to Ford’s future success in Europe.”
1.0L EcoBoost Engine
1.0L EcoBoost Petrol Engine is the first Ford engine that is produced in this plant. This power- efficient and eco-friendly EcoBoost engine will be housed in best selling vehicles versions 100PS and120PS of Ford Focus. Additionally it will also be equipped in New Ford B-Max, Ford C-Max and Ford Grand C-Max apart from many other vehicles. 100PS and 120PS versions of the New B-Max is manufactured in Craiova Plant.
Fuel Efficiency and CO2 Emission
- 120PS EcoBoost Engine features auto start/stop capability, its estimated fuel usage is 4.91 per 100Km and CO2 emission level is 114g/Km.
- 100PS EcoBoost Engine offers best in class fuel economy of 4.8g/100Km and CO2 emission of 109g/Km.
- 125PS EcoBoost Engine presents fuel efficiency with 5.0l/100Km and CO2 emission of 114g/Km.
Ford invested €180 million in this plant and with this plant overall investment for engine and vehicle production in Romania reaches to €675 million. President of Ford Romania Jan Gijsen said, “Craiova plays a very important role in Ford’s global manufacturing footprint. Our investment has transformed Craiova’s engine manufacturing facility into one of the most competitive and modern plants in the auto industry.”
