Honda Reveals Its New Production-Ready Acura TLX
Luxury line of Honda Motor Company introduces the all-new Acura TLX at the 2014 New York International Auto Show. The show opened April 16 and 17 with media days and will continue from 18 to 27 with the public show. Acura plans big to simplify its sedans’ line by getting shed of the mid-sized Acura TL and compact Acura TSX. The 2015 Acura TLX is expected to close the gap between the two by strategically positioning itself in between. The TLX, despite being almost 4-inches shorter than the TL gets exactly the same wheelbase to ensure interior spaciousness.
New headlights styling like “Jewel-Eye” are to be offered as a standard with a forward collision warning system and mitigated braking. A lane departure and correction system, an adaptive cruise control, and a blind-spot monitoring system along with a visual warning displayed in the side view mirror are also standard. Power accessories, premium audio with Bluetooth capability, power adjustable seating, dual-zone climate control, and cruise control are some other features expected to be offered on the new TLX.
Engine choices include a 2.4-liter four-cylinder mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission or a 310-hp producing 3.5-liter V6. The V6 engine is proposed to be coupled with an all-new nine-speed automatic gearbox. Fuel efficiency facts and figures are not available as of yet. An all-wheel drive configuration will also be available with the V6.
The TLX equips with a four-wheel independent suspension system along a double-wishbone front as well as multi-link rear setups. Both the front and rear contain anti-sway bars.
