The following cars have been selected as the most popular cars of their time. Difference of opinion can be there but performance of these models was undoubtedly above average.

Chevrolet Corvette

The American car, Chevrolet Corvette was very popular in 2009 and still derives good respect. It was then rightly termed the exotic car. The well shaped body of the sports version is beautiful.

This super performance car is powered by 638 horse power 6.2 litre V8 engine. The good performing sports coupe speeds up through a 6 speed manual transmission. Corvette ZRI has a fast track speed of a little over 200 mph. the standard Corvette model houses a 430 horse power V8 engine. The in town fuel economy is 16 mph and 26 mph on the motorway. The Chevrolet Corvette was appreciated in Europe also but fetched maximum clientage in America.

Ford Mustang

Ford MUSTANG Coupe had many new outlook features when the last model made debut in 2005. The sports car presented a different body shape on the fore end and the rear. The front grille was well designed with re-moulded headlight panel. The rear tail lights were composed of multi element decorative design.  Ford Mustang takes off with a 300 horse power V8 engine in the GT model. This convertible sports car is considered a moderately priced for the American market. There are many options available that can modify to provide the needed performance. Dodge Challenger R/T

The manufacturers of Dodge cars were considered conservative and stuck to a standard pattern for a long time. The market challenges take their toll. Then the auto market was surprised by the launch of Dodge Challenger. After many decades a big shift from routine was seen. The Challenger made its debut in 2006 in Detroit Auto show as a concept car. The powerful 425 horse power by a 6.1 liter V8 engine was more than anticipated. The lead model is SRT8 while other variations are available too. The automatic transmission is in 5 speeds where as the manual transmission has 6 speeds.

Dodge Challenger R/T saloon had all new body line with different face and rear. The Challenger incorporated high tech features like Bluetooth connectivity, satellite navigation, MyGIG music system and Keyless Go with remote start.

BMW M3

The BMW M3 series was introduced in the market in 2008. This altogether new version created a good impact in the market. The M3 is a more powerful model of the BMW 3 series. BMW M3 version is powered by a V8 engine that is more aggressive than the previous ones. BMW M3 is available in various versions as coupe, sedan and convertible. This model employs a rear diffuser and an aluminum hood. The front fenders are designed to display M3 logo in colours red, blue and purple. Porsche 911 GT2

Porsche Turbo has been a popular car since long and still is. Particularly the prestige model 911 GT2 is still going strong. The car’s 480 horse power twin turbo charged 3.6 liter V6 engine employs all 4 wheel drive system. The Turbo can accelerate to60 mph in just under 4 seconds, and can hit 100 mph in 9 seconds. It employs a standard 6 speed manual transmission. An automatic Tiptronic transmission is also available in 5 speeds. Porsche is a rear engine sports car that is still well reputed.

Mitsubishi Eclipse

The 2009 model of the Mitsubishi Eclipse was all restyled to give it facelift. This sports coupe is also available in convertible version. This car though appreciated in the sports circles, has changed much in the last decade. It houses a moderate 265 horse power 3.8 liter V6 engine that is tied to the front wheels. The new version is also available as ES and GT models. The front wheel drive Eclipse is quite close to its kin the Lancer Evolution.

Nissan’s legendary Z car was back in2003 after many years. The sports car has a moderately powered 306 horse power 3.5 liter V6 engine. Mazda MX-5 Miata

Mazda Miata was introduced in 1990. This interesting sporty car won a place in the Guinness book of World records as a best selling two seat sports car. Mx-5 has a very quick turning ability and navigational stable ease. The nice looking streamlined body had an instant appeal among the younger generation. MX-5 is also available with retractable hard top convertible. The price is in any case attractive at $21000 for 2008 model. Both the models have equal cargo space.

Lamborghini Gallardo

Lamborghini was first introduced in 2004 and swept the market in a very short period of two years. It became the top selling model of all times. Gallardo is a two seat sports car being powered with a V10 mid-engine. The 5.2 liter engine is placed longitudinally and is of 560 horse power. The model name is changed to LP560-4. The 4 in the name stands for the Viscous Traction of all wheel drive system. In this system the torque is distributed to front and rear axles by a viscous coupling.

Nissan GT-R is an all wheel drive coupe and new 5th generation 2009 model. This has been introduced in the vast American market. The high performance GT-R comes with a powerful 480 horse power 3.8 liter twin turbo V6 engine.

The engine produces a 430 lb-ft of torque and is at the same time extremely low emission vehicle matching (ULEV) standards. The 6 speed dual clutch rear transaxle shifts quickly in the all wheel drive giving it a top speed of 200 mph.
